Master Bedroom Makeover

We recently changed our master bedroom.
When I look back at old pictures, it's so fun to see how my tastes have changed over the years.
Here it is before...
I was totally loving red & gold!
And
Here's the after...

I really love the fresh feeling the room has now!

Another before...

I don't think the bedspread really goes with the log bed or the checkered pillows on the couch!
And here it is now...

I'm really enjoying the lighter color bed spread...
It makes such a difference in the room.

Here is another before...
And the corner now...

I stained the little dresser, which used to be in my entry way & I actually got the mirror for FREE! We fixed it up & I still might add some decorative wood to the top of the mirror to finish it off.

Here are a few pictures that explain what we changed...
I think changing the bedding & curtains is one of the most dramatic ways to change any bedroom.
I didn't realize how expensive nightstands can be, but I found some in the classifieds for $20.00.  If you want to see how they looked before you can see it here.

I'm really happy with this change & I'm loving that it is more classical, hopefully it won't be outdated any time soon!
I did decide to go with a white comforter because you can always add more color with pillows if I need a change later on, which knowing me, I probably will!

  1. What a difference! Your room looks beautiful, it is funny how our taste changes throughout the years! Can you believe I use to have a mauve floral couch that had hints of country blue in it and a blue and cream check love seat that went with it! I also had lots of dried floral arrangements like the one that use to hang above your bed, and the little round table with the table cloth in the corner.....you guessed it, I had those also!

  10. Hi! I'm visiting from Savvy Southern Style. I love the remake! I recently redid my bedroom with black on white toile bedding, an over-the-top white "canopy" (actually a 4-cornered mosquito net but I feel like I'm sleeping in a princess bed now) and cream-colored semi-sheer curtains over white lace panels at the windows. So I can appreciate the difference the "white" can make. I am so impressed with your re-do of the little "bombe" table and the mirror above. Personally, I love that round mirror as it is, and I don't see that it needs any further embellishment. It's kind of hard to tell sometimes from photos, but your bedroom doesn't look like it is uber-large; sometimes, "less" is "more" as the old saying goes. I think you added just the right accents and accessories and don't need to add anything else. But I am a rather "plain" sort of gal. You have created a wonderfully beautiful and restful room. I hear you about nightstands. Anything I've liked has been too pricey - even on Craig's list. Sigh. Congratulation on your beautiful new bedroom. It's gorgeous!

  24. Throughout the years, we really do change especially with some of our preferences because of influences we see around or just merely for the sake of experiencing something new. When I read your post and saw how you completely changed your room, it inspired me to do the same. Not just with my bedroom, but I think with the living room as well. Thank you for such a blog. Great makeover, by the way!
