Way back in January we started our kitchen remodel & this extended into our great room.
Our kitchen still isn't done, but our great room is finished!
The fireplace is now a beautiful focal point that completed the whole kitchen remodel.
Our kitchen is white, so this connected the two areas and made the whole space look amazing!
This is definitely one of my favorite parts of the whole remodel...My fireplace turned out so beautiful!

Can you believe this is even the same room?

I am completely amazed at the transformation.
The herringbone tile on the fireplace is SO beautiful...
It looks so unique...
I actually found all of the tile at Lowes.
It is part of the Allen & Roth brand.
The planked wood is so gorgeous that I've been afraid to hang anything up on the mantel.
I've had a clock for about a month that has just been sitting on the floor.
Last night, I finally asked my husband to help me out. He did not want to ruin the wood with nail holes either.
We were trying to figure out how to hang a nail between the cracks.
He was so nervous about ruining it, that he actually called our contractor and asked what he thought we should do?
He saved the day and had a nail thin enough to fit between the cracks without damaging the wood!
Here it is decorated...
I decided to go with a beach house feel!
It makes me happy!
Isn't that woodwork gorgeous?
I still have to pinch myself when I walk in this room, Is this really MY house??
I sure love a great Before & After...
It's amazing what a little woodwork & paint can do for a room!
***Update***
Our kitchen is finally done too!
If you'd like to see the before & after, you can find it HERE.
I'm sharing with these blogs:

What a great job you did decorating. Love the tiles! Where did you get your clock?
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Thank you for your sweet comment! I got my clock at Hobby Lobby. They go on sale for 50% off all the time.
DeleteVery lovely.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely love your fireplace and your wall color which I am dying to know the color
ReplyDeleteLove the look! What type of boards did you use for the planks?
ReplyDeleteThe wood for the planking is poplar.
DeleteDo you know what height of your boards are? I've seen many put up 8" boards for shiplap and yours seems a little smaller. I like it!
DeleteThis is an amazing transformation! I love the planked part above the fireplace, it definitely gives the piece a beach house feel.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! What is that gorgeous gray paint color?
ReplyDeleteThe after pictures have such an amazing modern flair to them! You are absolutely right, it is hard to tell they are even the same room. I really love what you did with the fireplace. I've never seen someone use tiles for the hearth before, and it works so well. Great job!

What kind of wood did you use for the planks? Is it tongue and groove? Thanks
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job! Well Done! Didi you buy the mantel and if so where? I'm renovating my living room in the beach style and want a mission style mantel. Many Thanks
ReplyDeleteLoving the antique watch! A fireplace always needs a antique watch to make a house a home. Good job Sally!
ReplyDeleteawesome! i'm off to lowes. this is the perfect thing for our fireplace reno. thanks so much for sharing the source of the tile!!!!
ReplyDeletewould you mind sharing the tile you used along the border around the herringbone tile?
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I actually have a sheet of this tile sitting on my kitchen counter, trying to convince the hubby that we should use it for our backsplash. He's concerned about the amount of cuts and how difficult it might be to install. Do you have any comments or recommendations for that?
ReplyDeleteHi there! I just went to look at these tiles in person and Im not sure if I see the same ones. The one on the website shown when I click on it and in the store looks mainly white with a bit of grays. In your photos it looks to have whites, grays and tans..? I love how yours appears to have both warm and cool colors. Is that just the photo? Thank you!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow what a transformation! I have a question about your fireplace remodel, pretty please! I am noticing that we have a similar fireplace to the one you took out. Was yours a stucco/concrete fireplace with wood framing? How did you demo it? Do you have any advice for a hands on DIY girl? Thank you for your help! All the best :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Do you happen to have the plans for this? We love it and are wanting to build our own.
ReplyDeleteHow did you build the slats? did you attach them directly to the wall or build a small box?
ReplyDeleteDo you know where the to buy the bullnose tile on the hearth?
ReplyDeleteThe difference is just dramatic! Your room now looks brighter! And those tiles are truly a great touch.
ReplyDeleteI think a great deal of modern fireplaces can go well with that style. I’ve also been looking at some models here too. Hope this helps.
This is gorgeous! Would you be willing to share the plans you used to build it?
ReplyDeleteDo you mind sharing the ballpark cost of this? we have a stucco fireplace too and would love to get this bud out.
