I think one of the biggest things you can do to change the look or feel of your home is paint!
I was reflecting back on how our home has changed over the years & paint has definitely been the most dramatic way we have changed things around here!
Here are a few examples:
Our exterior...
This is the "before" when we first bought our home.
Here it is now....
This transformation occurred in a few phases.
If you'd like to read more about it, you can find it HERE.
Another dramatic transformation was our entry way.
Here is the before...
I stained the rails a walnut color & my husband added board and batten, which we painted white.
Here it is is now...
You can see the whole transformation HERE.
I also love taking an old piece of furniture & making it new with paint.
I have done this a number of times, but my favorite transformation was my daughter's dresser.
It was in pretty bad shape, but I only paid $20 dollars for it.
Here it is now...
I love how it turned out!
We just recently transformed her whole room with paint.
You can see the reveal HERE.
The only part of our home that hasn't been painted since we moved in is our main floor.
We will be doing that when they finish our kitchen.
I really want it to be bright and fresh.
Here are a few of the colors that I'm considering:
This is a paint by Benjamin Moore and it is called Marina Gray...
This one is by Sherwin Williams and is called Accessible Beige.
The trim is also by Sherwin Williams and is called Alabaster.
It is really hard to decide what will look best with our furniture.
I'm leaning towards one of these colors.
The thing about paint is, even if you don't always love it the first time, you can always try again!

I painted the trim in my living room alabaster. It looks great but I might be changing the wall color. You are right. Paint really changes things and is an easy dramatic fun change.
ReplyDeleteI love color! We have some unusual colors on many of our walls and it was fun choosing them and more fun to live with.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation! I love the end results and am partial to the palettes that you've chosen. Well done :)
ReplyDeleteI love what a simple can of paint can do for a home, room or an old not so valuable furniture piece. To me its fun and so rewarding the see something renewed and given new life. I think your palette works, so go for it and enjoy. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, there is such a difference between the before and after. I love the exterior now, and your daughter's dresser is gorgeous, especially the chalk board with one of my favourite quotes! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a transformation by just changing the colour. I love the dresser too. It looks perfect in your daughter's room. I just love American homes which are so much bigger that the homes in UK.
ReplyDeleteSO many great transformations and colors, love it! THnaks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteThe change in your outside paint really makes a positive difference. When we bought our last house which was a 100 year old brick colonial with white shutters and white window sashes, I looked at a lot of brick houses in different neighborhoods before choosing what I thought would look good for our house. After the exterior paint was changed, several strangers walking by stopped to say that they really liked the change. That gave me the courage to trust myself on future projects.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home! I really enjoy what a room can feel like after a coat of paint.
ReplyDeleteNo question about it, Paint is head and shoulders the best décor value, provided one has a good eye for colour as you clearly do. During my time as a Real Estate Broker I was a great promoter of paint to both sellers and buyers and would have referred them to this post had it been available at the time.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to find your blog! I'm always amazed at what a new coat of paint can do. I love your dresser project and "accessible beige" is one of my go-to colors for clients.
ReplyDeleteLove that Dresser.... Such an improvement - it's now beautiful
